TL;DR:
- I'm sharing a mind-blowing graph comparing AI and human performance.
- Getting a foundational base with the Mastering AI in AEC course in 2024 will make you ready to tackle AI developments for decades to come.
- AI is already being used in the AEC in 3 important ways - we'll explore which ones in next week's email.
Dear Friends - Welcome back!
In last week's email, I published the agenda for the upcoming Mastering AI in AEC course and I'm very happy with how it was received!
Both on LinkedIn and on this waitlist, it seems that covering such a wide area of AI use cases is very interesting for people to learn about, as there's nothing like this out in the market at the moment.
This week, I want to talk more why this course will stay relevant for years to come, and it all starts with where AI will go from here:
1. AI is not 'just a trend'
There are 2 graphs that completely changed how I see AI - and I'm sharing 1 of them with you today.
It's the graph which shows AI's exponential development and its performance compared to human performance:
As you can see from the graph, AI has been experiencing exponential growth in its performance - and the curve is not stopping.
With better machines, more people working with AI, and increased funding in AI companies, the curves are just starting out.
And if AI's performance is already better than ours in many tasks - should we be scared or excited?
In my opinion, the emergence of AI we're witnessing today will turn into stories we'll be telling to our grandkids - something like our parents are saying to us about the arrival of the wide-spread internet.
2. Foundational base of AI in AEC
After I understood the immense power of AI and the path it's on - I knew I needed to open up a company and start teaching people about this stuff now, and not tomorrow.
The AI wave is way too big for any of us to grasp fully, but there are nonetheless some core concepts of it that will help you accept AI as your teammate, and not your opponent.
And identifying these core concepts has worked wonders in my life - when I see a new AI startup and ask them about the technical background, I (most often) immediately understand how it works, how it can be used in my own work, and where the app could be headed next.
Nobody's an oracle, but having fundamental AI knowledge in 2024 is like a superpower - and I'm personally not afraid of the further development to come.
And this is what I plan to teach in Mastering AI in AEC course - the core concepts of AI across the wide breadth of AEC use cases - so everyone who joins the course is ready for years to come.
3. There's no 'I' in 'AEC'
As I tend to mention in the beginning of my presentations - we have big challenges in the AEC.
And I don't only mean the day-to-day issues and problems we get - I mean the global impact of the AEC industry.
My second goal with the course is to assist you - Change Makers - to create and make change in your environments with the power of AI - so our industry can move forward positively and we can look back one day on our industry and our careers and say:
'We did something great. And it was worth it.'
I believe that there's no better way to spend one's day than to fight for something bigger than oneself.
And I believe that we have to take that responsibility and change our world in the best way we can.
And for help, we're happen to be at the dawn of wide-spread AI - so why not take its help and multiply it with our efforts?
Because if we don't change the AEC - who will?
Until next time:
- On Wednesday the 27th, I'll be a BIM Pure guest at a free webinar. I will talk into more depth on the newest AI apps I found out there, so it might be interesting to attend. Will you be there too? (here's the LinkedIn link too)
- I got many asking me about the price of the course. I will be publishing it soon and it won't break your bank, really. You, the AEC community, helped me create this course and that's why I'm aiming to create an affordable course as a thank you - and because I know that true change only happens at scale.
- If you have any other questions - just hit reply and I'll get around to answering them asap.
Have a great week ahead and hope to see you on Wednesday!
Cheers,
Stjepan
